National Organization for Rare Disorders

The Sigma Nu IOTA Chapter recently partnered with NORD, a non-profit organization aiming to provide support for individuals with rare diseases by advocating for and funding research, education, and networking among service providers. Since 1983, NORD has been a national steward and a steadfast partner in helping those who battle and care for rare diseases feel seen, heard, supported, and connected. They’re a full-service, mission-driven nonprofit reimagining a future where every person with a rare disease and their families live their best lives.

Awards

In 2022, the Iota Chapter was the proud recipient of Samford’s Greek Life Philanthropy Award for outstanding philanthropy throughout the 2021-2022 school year. With our first annual Sigma Nu Good Deed Day, awareness day with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and fielding two teams for the annual Samford Gives Back day, we are very proud of what we accomplished as a chapter and are very excited for what is to come.

Our Philanthropy

In 2022, Sigma Nu surpassed goals that were previously made with our philanthropy. We hosted the first annual Good Deed Day, which raised over $4000 for the American Foundation of suicide prevention and the Alabama Kidney Foundation. We also hosted an awareness day for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where we set up and information tent on campus where people could write inspiring messages on rocks to be placed all over campus.
